Terms of Service

Last Updated: April 22, 2026

Thanks for using Gridle. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Platano Labs LLC ("Platano Labs," "we," "our," or "us"). They apply to the Gridle mobile application ("App") and related online services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and is part of these Terms by reference.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old. If you're between 13 and the age of majority where you live, your parent or guardian must have reviewed and agreed to these Terms for you. Don't use the Service if the law where you are says you can't.

2. The Service

Gridle is a companion app for your daily Wordle-style puzzle, which is run by other companies (for example, Wordle on the New York Times site). The App doesn't include that puzzle; you open it elsewhere (we may link you out in your browser), then you can log your result here for scores, history, and optional leagues with people you know.

We're not affiliated with The New York Times, Wordle, or other publishers of the puzzle. Their rules and policies apply when you use their products.

Scores and stats here are based on what you submit. We don't check whether you actually played the third-party game or whether your entry matches real play.

3. Your account

We use your email address to create and manage your account, including sign-in, invites, and service messages as described in our Privacy Policy. Keep your info accurate and your device secure. You're responsible for activity under your account. Some features work with data stored only on your device until you sign in; those uses are still covered by these Terms where they apply.

Email [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put the Service or others at risk.

4. What you submit

You might provide a profile handle, your daily result text (and the scores we derive from it), and email addresses when you invite people to a league ("User Content"). You keep your existing rights in what you submit. You give Platano Labs permission to host, process, and display that content as needed to run the Service; for example, showing your handle and results to you and to people in your leagues, and sending invitation emails you ask us to send.

You confirm you have the right to share that content and that it doesn't break these Terms or the law. If you use the system share sheet to send an image of your results, you choose who gets it; we're not responsible for what they do with it.

5. Leagues

In a league, other members may see your handle and the result information you've logged. Admins can manage the league as described in the App (for example, removing someone or closing the league). Don't abuse invites or notifications (no spam, no scraping addresses without permission).

6. Subscriptions and billing

Some features, such as Gridle Pro, are available through auto-renewing subscriptions sold via Apple's App Store. Gridle Pro is offered on a monthly or yearly basis. When you start a subscription, Apple bills the payment method linked to your Apple ID. The full price, including applicable taxes, is charged at confirmation and again at the start of each new subscription period (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you chose) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from the Manage Subscriptions section of your Apple ID settings (see support.apple.com/HT202039 ). We can't cancel or refund purchases on your behalf; refund requests must be directed to Apple, except where required by law.

Free trials, introductory prices, or promotional credits (including entitlements we grant directly through RevenueCat) convert to paid subscriptions unless you cancel before the promotional period ends. We may change subscription pricing prospectively; if we do, we’ll follow the notice requirements set by Apple, Google, or other stores, and you may need to accept the new price for the subscription to continue. If a store cannot collect payment, it may attempt to renew, pause benefits, or cancel the subscription per its own rules.

7. Notifications

We may email you or send push or in-app messages as needed for the Service and according to your settings. The App can schedule local reminders on your device; you control those in the App or system settings. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

8. Ads and diagnostics

The App shows ads through Google AdMob. Your data use choices (including App Tracking Transparency on iOS) are described in the Privacy Policy. We use Sentry for crash and error reporting; it may collect technical information as described in the Privacy Policy and Sentry's own terms.

9. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, harm others, or interfere with how it runs. For example, don't try to break into our systems, overload the Service with bots without permission, cheat on scores, harass people, or upload malware. Don't reverse-engineer the App except where the law says you're allowed to. We may block access for behavior that violates these Terms.

10. Our stuff; your license to use the App

The App and our branding are owned by Platano Labs or our licensors. The App is licensed, not sold. We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to use it for the Service. Third-party names and logos belong to their owners.

If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything for it.

11. Third parties

We use vendors for things like hosting, email, push delivery, ads, and diagnostics; they have their own terms. We're not responsible for services we don't control. When you open Wordle or other sites from the App, you're subject to their terms and you use them at your own risk.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement). We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Platano Labs and our affiliates, directors, employees, and agents won't be liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service, whether the claim is based on contract, tort, or anything else, even if we were told it might happen.

Our total liability for claims about the Service or these Terms won't exceed the greater of (a) what you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). Some places don't allow these limits; there, our liability is limited as much as the law allows.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Platano Labs and its officers, directors, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

15. Leaving the Service

You can stop using Gridle anytime. If you're signed in, you can delete your account in the App; we'll remove your server-side data as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to legal requirements. Clearing data only on your device (when you're not signed in) doesn't remove what's already stored with your account unless you delete the account while signed in.

We may suspend or end access if we reasonably believe you've broken these Terms or we need to for legal or safety reasons. Sections that should naturally continue (like ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) survive.

16. Apple App Store

If you got the App from Apple's App Store, these Terms are between you and Platano Labs only, not Apple. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App or its content.

License scope. The license granted in Section 10 is limited to a non-transferable right to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms of Service, including Family Sharing where applicable.

Maintenance and support. Platano Labs is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support services for the App. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the App.

Warranty. Platano Labs is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.

Product claims. Platano Labs, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims you or any third party have relating to the App, including: (a) product liability claims; (b) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (c) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.

Intellectual property. Platano Labs, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights.

Export compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

17. Disputes and arbitration

Try talking to us first. If you have a dispute with us, please email [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to work it out informally before starting any formal proceeding.

Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve it informally, you and Platano Labs agree to resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration rather than in court. Arbitration will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (available at adr.org). Either party may still bring claims in small claims court if they qualify.

No class actions. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against us. Disputes must be brought individually.

Either party may seek emergency injunctive relief from a court to prevent harm while arbitration is pending. Nothing here prevents you from filing a complaint with a government agency.

If you are in the EU, UK, EEA, or a jurisdiction where mandatory arbitration for consumer disputes is not permitted by law, this section does not apply to you. In that case, disputes will be resolved in the courts described in Section 18.

18. General

These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service and replace earlier agreements on the same topic. If we don't enforce something, that isn't a waiver. If one part isn't enforceable, the rest stays in effect. You can't assign these Terms; we can assign them as part of a merger, sale, or similar deal.

Law and venue. Delaware (USA) law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory consumer laws in your country may still apply where required. Unless the law where you live requires otherwise (for example, for EU/UK/EEA consumers suing at home), you and we agree that courts in Delaware have jurisdiction over disputes that are allowed to be brought in court.

Follow applicable export and sanctions laws.

We may update these Terms by posting a new version and changing the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll give extra notice when the law or good sense says we should. Continuing to use the Service after updates means you accept the new Terms.
